The Story Behind Owl Chiropractic: Crafting Our Identity

At Owl Chiropractic, our mission extends beyond providing exceptional care, it encompasses creating a welcoming, fun space and culture. The journey to our physical space, logo, name, and color scheme was a thoughtful process. Every detail of Optimal Wellness for Life Chiropractic Center was a labor of love and has a purpose/ meaning to Dr. Scott and myself.

The hunt for a place to call home for Owl Chiropractic

I have talked in previous blogs about the hunt for our physical space. We looked for over a year, from renting to buying, from Fruitville Pike to the southern end of Lancaster County. I honestly would not have considered buying or looking into downtown Lanaster if it wasn’t for my sister Amber. Many may know her as Amber Lancaster, but like me, we are Strazzos. (Her real name is not Amber Lancaster.) She really encouraged us to look into the city as it is very small business friendly, and when we walked into our current space, we knew we could make it something special.

I am so thankful for our vision of 247N. Shippen st., because when we first viewed the space with Corinn from PPM Realty, we needed a vision to look beyond the blue shag rug and wallpaper walls. The building was originally built in the 1800s as a tobacco warehouse. There was a railroad that ran between the two buildings, and it is said that President Abraham Lincoln rode this railway on his way to give the Gettysburg address. Knowing this just made us fall in love with the space even more. The building was converted and renovated in the early 1980s into what it is now. We started our renovations in October 20214 and started seeing patients in March 2015.

The final decisions for our colors and logo

Part of these renovations was picking a color scheme and logo that would fit our mission. Ask Dr. Scott how many sample colors I had on the walls, and I would guess about 15!!! Dr.Scott made the final decision on our colors and logo. I wanted a color and a logo that, when seen outside of our office, would make people think about our office. Our logo colors are the same as our office walls. Most people, when they see the colors yellow and red, think McDonald's. Most people, when they hear “ just do it, they think of Nike. I wanted something like this for our business and logo for our brand. I also wanted an acronym that stood independent from the business name.

Dr. Scott and I played around with this for months. I really liked the word optimal but was stuck. Again, it was Dr. Scott who finally came up with Optimal Wellness for Life Chiropractic Center, or OWL. It checked all the boxes. The full name of the business helps describe our mission of wellness and a wellness lifestyle. Owls themselves are pretty awesome birds. They are powerful, wise, and strong. They also have a phenomenal range of motion in their neck! Most of our patients now, whenever they see an Owl, think of us, so that is why we went with this for our name; it really hit all the points we wanted to make with our logo.

At Owl Chiropractic, our logo, color scheme, and location are not just aesthetic choices; they are deeply intertwined with our values and mission. Each element has been carefully crafted to create an inviting atmosphere where patients can feel safe, understood, and empowered on their health journeys. Our office is more than white walls and white coats.

As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to our vision. We invite you to visit us and experience firsthand the thought and intention that has gone into creating Owl Chiropractic.
